Trauma, Attachment, and the Path to Healing: A Half-Day Workshop

Jun 19, 2026 - Jun 19, 2026

About

For therapists, coaches, and practitioners familiar with Focusing, this workshop offers an advanced, trauma-informed exploration of remembering and mourning through FSPM. Open to people familiar with body based practices like mindfulness, yoga, somatic experiencing, Focusing - whether you're a professional or not, this is designed to take you on your own personal journey. This half-day workshop from 12-4:30pm ET on June 19 offers a supportive next step for those ready to deepen their FSPM journey. Together, we will explore Judith Herman’s second stage of trauma recovery - remembering and mourning - through a nervous-system-informed, embodied lens. Early experiences are often carried not only as memories, but as patterns in the body: ways of relating, protecting, numbing, or striving to feel safe. Even with insight and therapy, these trauma-based adaptations can continue to shape relationships and coping strategies. We will explore how early attachment experiences and nervous system responses give rise to strategies that once helped us survive and how bringing gentle awareness to these patterns can create more space for choice, compassion, and healing. Learning outcomes: • Understand how early experiences shape the nervous system, attachment, and coping patterns • Recognize links between trauma, insecure attachment, and behaviors such as addiction or emotional numbing • Explore the ACEs framework without shame or self-blame • Identify the four attachment styles and how they show up in relationships and the body • Practice the Felt Sense Polyvagal Model to explore early caregiving influences • Respond to trauma-based patterns with greater awareness, compassion, and possibility Because we’ll be working with body-based awareness, participants should have some capacity to feel and stay present with their bodily experience. Recordings available for 12 months. A limited number of scholarships are available. Apply here: https://www.fspminstitute.com/scholarshipapp
